Natural Treatments for Wrinkles

Natural Treatments for Wrinkles

As we get older, there are common signs of age that can appear. One noticeable factor is the appearance of our skin, with things like fine lines, sunspots, and dull looking skin. Some of these are inevitable, but many of them can be prevented with a few simple lifestyle changes. Try implementing a few of these tips into your daily routine.

1. Wear sunscreen

We have heard time and time again that in order for our skin to age gracefully, sunscreen is a must. Sunscreen helps our skin in a myriad of ways, protecting us from the strong rays of the sun. Remember sunscreen to combat wrinkles, as well as to protect against skin cancer.

2. Limit sugar intake

We all love sugar, but limiting its intake will make you look younger for longer! Too much sugar intake increases inflammation of the skin and also increases fine lines and wrinkles. By limiting its consumption, you decrease your likelihood of dealing with these issues, and also increase the amount of elastin and collagen in your skin. You’ll be left with more youthful looking skin.

3. Quit smoking

If you still smoke, know that it’s not doing your skin any favors. Smoking can increase the likelihood of skin problems such as psoriasis, cancer, and fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth. It also has been linked to a risk of lung cancer, so put down the cigarettes to save yourself from health problems and keep your skin fresh.

4. Use coconut oil

Using coconut oil helps to increase the number of antioxidants in your skin and enhances skin tightening. This decreases sagging and wrinkles! Coconut oil has also been proven to increase the hydration of your skin, keeping it looking youthful. A natural alternative to more expensive and costly moisturizers, it is an excellent addition to your skincare routine.

5. Take beta carotene supplements

Beta carotene supplements will help your skin to heal from any damage that’s been done to it and will also help the growth and repair of body tissues, not just for your skin, but for your entire body! Otherwise known as vitamin A, it can also be used topically to help decrease the appearance of age spots.

6. Wash and moisturize your face before bed

Lastly, don’t forget to wash and moisturize your face every night before bed! In doing this, you ensure that your face will be moisturized and clean before you get some sleep. In particular, apply moisturizer while your face is still damp to help your skin absorb the moisturizer. You’ll wake up the next day with your best face forward!
